Arusberita.id – Menteri Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makariem buka suara terkait dengan keluhan kenaikan Uang Kuliah Tunggal (UKT) di beberapa kampus. Melambungnya uang semester ini diduga karena regulasi anyar melalui Peraturan Mendikbudristek No 2 Tahun 2024.
Merespons hal itu, Nadiem menjelaskan kenaikan hanya berlaku untuk mahasiswa baru bukan untuk seluruh mahasiswa. Sehingga ia membantah jika kebijakan ini akan mengubah rate UKT bagi mahasiswa yang sudah melaksanakan pendidikannya di perguruan tinggi.
“Ini yang kadang masih ada mispersepsi, ini tidak benar. Aturan ini hanya berlaku untuk mahasiswa baru,” jelas Nadiem dalam Rapat Kerja bersama Komisi X DPR RI, Selasa (21/5).
Selain itu, Nadiem bilang kebijakan UKT itu berjenjang. Melalui aturan baru ini, mahasiswa dengan tingkat ekonomi mampu memang diharuskan untuk membayar uang pangkal lebih mahal.
Namun, ia menegaskan untuk mahasiswa dengan tingkat ekonomi kurang mampu juga tidak dibebankan UKT yang tinggi.
“Jadi tidak ada mahasiswa yang gagal kuliah, atau tiba- tiba membayar lebih banyak akibat kebijakan ini,” ungkapnya.
Diketahui, kenaikan uang pangkal menjadi topik panas belakangan ini. Kenaikan UKT ini salah satunya terjadi di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed).
Presiden Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Unsoed Maulana Ihsan menyebut, biaya UKT melambung hingga mencapai 300% – 500%. Pangkalnya, kata dia, aturan Permendikbud Nomor 2 Tahun 2024 yang dilanjutkan dengan Keputusan Menteri Nomor 54 Tahun 2024 tentang Standar Satuan Biaya Operasional Pendidikan Tinggi.
“Yang kami resahkan, UKT di Unsoed itu naik melambung sangat jauh tinggi. Naik bisa 300%-500%. Contoh di fakultas saya sendiri, dari fakultas peternakan, sebelumnya Rp 2,5 juta, sekarang naik jadi Rp 14 juta,” kata Ihsan dalam Rapat Dengar Pendapat (RDP) bersama Komisi IX DPR RI, Jumat (17/5).
Maulana mengatakan, pihaknya sudah melakukan beberapa kali audiensi dengan rektorat ihwal permohonan keringanan UKT bagi mahasiswa. Hanya saja, usaha tersebut nihil tidak membuahkan hasil.
Unsoed hanya menindaklanjuti dengan merevisi aturan yang mengatur soal kenaikan UKT melalui Peraturan Rektor No 9 Tahun 2024. Namun, aturan tersebut masih belum menurunkan UKT yang diresahkan mahasiswa.
“Diganti pun (revisi aturan) menurut kami masih belum menjawab segala tuntutan kami. Balik lagi, di fakultas saya hanya turun untuk golongan terbesarnya turun Rp 81.000,” ungkap dia
