Arusberita.id – Dalam kunjungan ke Amerika Serikat, Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) menyempatkan diri untuk memberikan kuliah umum di Kampus Universitas Georgetown, Washinton DC.
Di depan peserta kuliah umum, Jokowi sempat ditanya soal konsep ibu kota baru Indonesia di Kalimantan Timur.
Jokowi memaparkan ibu kota negara (IKN) baru yang bernama Nusantara itu akan menerapkan konsep kota hutan yang sangat pintar.
Ibu kota baru akan menjadi kota yang ramah lingkungan dan 70% wilayahnya merupakan kawasan terbuka hijau.
“Nusantara new capital city ini konsepnya adalah smart forest city, kota modern yang ramah lingkungan, 70% adalah kawasan hijau,” papar Jokowi saat menyampaikan kuliah umum yang diikuti oleh hampir 500 peserta yang terdiri dari akademisi hingga mahasiswa, ditulis Rabu (15/11/2023).
Dia melanjutkan kendaraan listrik bakal menjadi transportasi utama di kota tersebut. Bahkan, Jokowi membeberkan 80% transportasi umum akan berbasis listrik, penghuninya pun diwajibkan hanya boleh melakukan mobilitas dengan kendaraan listrik juga.
“80% akan menggunakan transportasi publik kendaraan listrik dan penghuninya 100% harus menggunakan kendaraan listrik sehingga nanti akan menjadi kota yang betul-betul hijau yang layak untuk dihuni bersama-sama,” ungkap Jokowi.
Pembangkit listrik di Nusantara juga akan sangat ramah lingkungan dengan menggunakan energi hijau. Dua unsur utama pembangkitan energi di IKN Nusantara adalah sumber energi solar alias panas bumi dan juga hydropower alias sumber daya air.
Sementara itu, Jokowi menjelaskan kawasan hutan yang sekarang ini monokultur akan diperbaiki menjadi sebuah hutan yang heterogen. Bahkan targetnya, kawasan hutan di sekitar Nusantara akan mendekati tropical rain forest alias hutan hujan tropis yang kaya akan jenis tanaman.
“Maka yang pertama di bangun di IKN adalah Nursery Center, Botanical Center yang setiap tahunnya mengahasilkan bibit kurang lebih 15-16 juta bibit yang itu nanti akan ditanam baik di IKN maupun di pulau Kalimantan sehingga kawasan itu menjadi kawasan yang sangat hijau,” terang Jokowi.
Jokowi juga menyatakan IKN Nusantara akan bisa mulai digunakan dan dihuni pada tahun depan. Pemerintah pusat sendiri akan melakukan transisi ke ibu kita baru mulai Agustus 2024.
“Kita harapkan ini akan bisa kita huni, kita mulai huni nanti di Agustus 2024,” pungkas Jokowi.
