Arusberita.id – Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) memastikan Bandar Udara (Bandara) Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) di Penajam Paser Utara, Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim), akan resmi beroperasi pada Desember 2024. Namun, sebelum diresmikan, bandara tersebut sudah bisa dipakai.
“Tetapi sudah bisa dipakai pada Juni 2024,” ujar Presiden Jokowi saat melakukan groundbreaking atau peletakan batu pertama untuk pembangunan Bandara IKN, Rabu, 1 November 2023.
Jokowi mengatakan keberadaan bandara IKN sangat penting untuk menopang padatnya kegiatan di IKN, termasuk mobilitas orang dan barang dari jalur udara menuju ke IKN. Dia menegaskan bandara IKN merupakan bandara khusus yang digunakan untuk mendukung pelayanan kegiatan pemerintahan dan mendukung konektivitas di IKN.
Bandara IKN, terang dia, memiliki luas 347 hektare (Ha) dengan runaway 3.000 x 45 meter (m) dan dapat melayani pesawat berbadan lebar (wide body). Bandara IKN juga akan dilengkapi dengan terminal seluas 7.350 m2.
“Bandara ini akan membuat kawasan IKN makin terbuka, konektivitas makin baik, dan makin mudah dijangkau dari manapun,” ucap Jokowi.
Dia berharap Bandara IKN dapat mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi serta pengembangan potensi di daerah dan mengakselerasi pembangunan IKN yang sedang dalam proses.
Selain menghadiri groundbreaking Bandara IKN, Presiden dijadwalkan melakukan grounbreaking untuk infrastruktur penunjang lain, seperti rumah sakit dan sekolah.
