Arusberita.id – Kementerian Pertanian (Kementan) mulai menggarap potensi besar 10 juta hektare (ha) lahan rawa yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk dikembangkan menjadi area pertanian yang produktif dan berkelanjutan, sehingga pertanian Indonesia kembali normal.
“Ada beberapa terobosan kita bikin, ada peluang untuk melewati masalah (pertanian) ini,” kata Menteri Pertanian Andi Amran Sulaiman dalam keterangan di Jakarta, kemarin.
Yang pertama, Kementan mencoba menggarap lahan rawa yang ada. Indonesia punya potensi 10 juta hektare lahan rawa yang akan digarap terus-menerus setiap tahun.
Amran menekankan urgensi perhatian terhadap sektor pertanian, mengingat kondisi yang disebabkan fenomena El Nino yang tidak hanya dialami oleh Indonesia, tetapi juga negara-negara lain seperti Thailand. “Kalau tidak salah satu (atau) dua bulan lalu kami ketemu beberapa duta besar termasuk Thailand. Mereka mengalami hal yang sama terjadi penurunan produksi (pertanian) karena fenomena El Nino,” ucap Amran.
Menurut Amran, optimalisasi penggarapan lahan rawa memiliki potensi besar untuk memulihkan kondisi pertanian Indonesia agar bisa kembali normal dan meningkatkan produksi pangan secara signifikan. “Kalau ini bisa kita garap katakanlah satu juta ha per bulan dari optimasi lahan rawa insya Allah kondisi pangan kita pulih, dua (atau) tiga tahun ke depan maksimal tiga tahun, insya Allah kembali seperti semula,” ujar Amran.
Sebagai contoh, Amran mengatakan bahwa Kementerian Pertanian saat ini tengah mempersiapkan konsep kawasan pertanian modern di lahan rawa Provinsi Sumatra Selatan (Sumsel), sehingga bisa meningkatkan produktivitas dan efisiensi pertanian. Amran menuturkan, di provinsi tersebut Kementan bersama pemerintah setempat mencoba menggarap lahan seluas 400 ribu hektare. Namun, kata Amran pula, fokus pertama adalah seluas 200 ribu hektare.
“Kawasan ini adalah kawasan betul-betul mulai tanam, sampai pengolahan, panen itu menggunakan teknologi sehingga kita mencoba menggunakan teknologi tinggi. Dan teknologi yang kita gunakan diharapkan sejajar dengan negara negara lain yang sudah maju teknologi nya. Itu mimpi besar kita ke depan,” ungkap Amran.
Selain menggarap lahan rawa, Kementerian Pertanian juga mengupayakan intervensi pompanisasi untuk mengairi persawahan sehingga bisa meningkatkan produksi padi.
“Yang kedua kita mencoba optimalisasi lahan di Jawa, yaitu dengan mengoptimalkan sungai sungai seperti Bengawan Solo. Kita melakukan pompanisasi air permukaan atau air tanah kita gunakan. Itu menjangkau sampai 500 ribu ha,” kata Amran.
Amran berharap dengan upaya optimalisasi lahan rawa dan intervensi pompanisasi di sektor pertanian, maka kondisi pertanian Indonesia dapat kembali normal bahkan mencapai swasembada pangan.
