Arusberita.id – Kementerian Pertanian tengah fokus pada upaya intensifikasi perkebunan kelapa sawit untuk meningkatkan produksi minyak sawit mentah (CPO) yang dibutuhkan sebagai bahan baku biodiesel B50.
Plt. Direktur Jenderal Perkebunan Kementerian Pertanian Heru Tri Widarto saat ditemui usai forum bisnis Uni Eropa-Indonesia di Jakarta, Senin, mengatakan bahwa intensifikasi menjadi solusi yang lebih cepat dibandingkan peremajaan yang membutuhkan waktu hingga tiga tahun.
“Yang memungkinkan adalah intensifikasi, tidak hanya kebun sawit rakyat, tetapi juga kebun milik swasta,” ujar dia.
Dengan luas perkebunan sawit Indonesia yang telah mencapai 16,8 juta hektare, potensi peningkatan produksi dinilai masih sangat besar melalui optimalisasi lahan yang ada.
Terkait dengan tantangan dalam menyeimbangkan kebutuhan CPO untuk pangan, energi, dan ekspor, ia menyatakan bahwa Kementan tengah melakukan kajian mendalam.
Hasil kajian itu nantinya akan menentukan berapa peningkatan produksi yang dibutuhkan untuk memenuhi semua kebutuhan, baik untuk konsumsi dalam negeri, ekspor, maupun untuk program biodiesel B50.
Ia optimistis bahwa produksi CPO masih dapat ditingkatkan secara signifikan.
“Sekarang kan masih rata-rata 3 ton per hektare setara CPO. Itu masih bisa ditingkatkan menjadi 5-6 ton CPO per hektare. Jadi peluangnya itu masih sangat besar untuk ditingkatkan melalui intensifikasi ataupun peremajaan,” pungkasnya.
Menurut catatan Gabungan Pengusaha Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Gapki), produksi CPO pada 2023 diperkirakan mencapai 50,07 juta ton atau naik 7,15 persen dari tahun 2022 yang sebesar 46,73 juta ton.
Menurut Gapki, konsumsi CPO dalam negeri meningkat dari 21,24 juta ton pada 2022 menjadi 23,13 juta ton pada 2023. Implementasi kebijakan biodiesel B35 yang secara efektif dilakukan pada Juli 2022 telah meningkatkan konsumsi minyak sawit sebesar 17,68 persen, yakni dari 9,048 juta ton pada 2022 menjadi 10,65 juta ton pada 2023. Dengan diimplementasikannya B35, konsumsi biodiesel selama 2023 telah melampaui konsumsi untuk pangan dalam negeri.
Setelah memberlakukan B35, pemerintah menyatakan bahwa Indonesia siap meningkatkan bauran biodiesel dari B35 menjadi B40 pada 2025, serta melakukan persiapan untuk penerapan B50.
