Prof. Dr. H. Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin, S.H., S.U., M.I.P., lebih dikenal dengan nama Mahfud MD sudah dideklarasikan sebagai Cawapres untuk berpasangan dengan Ganjar Pranowo oleh koalisi partai pengusungnya di DPP PDI-P pada Rabu (18 Oktober 2023).
Mahfud kini resmi berpasangan dengan Ganjar Pranowo yang merupakan kader PDI-P. Pasangan ini rencananya akan segera didaftarkan ke KPU oleh koalisi PDI-P, PPP, Hanura dan Perindo. Empat partai yang sedari awal sudah menyatakan dukunganb kepada Ganjar.
Nama Mahfud bukan tiba tiba menjadi Bakal Cawapres Ganjar. Namanya bertarung dengan Ridwan Kamil, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Sandiaga Uno, Andhika Perkasa, bahkan Erick Thohir. Nama terakhir yang paling santer disampaikan belasan lembaga survey sebagai kandidat Wapres terkuat. Namun, pilihan Ganjar dan partai koalisi pendukungnya jatuh kepada Mahfud MD.
Kenapa Mahfud ?, jawaban yang pasti tentu ada di kepala ketua umum partai pengusung pasangan Capres/Cawapres ini. Tentu kita bisa bertanya kepada Megawati Soekarno Putri, Osman Sapta, Mardiono dan Hary Tanoe atau kepada Ganjar Pranowo sendiri. Namun jawaban sederhana bisa disampaikan bahwa Mahfud adalah pilihan yang pas untuk mendampingi Ganjar. Mahfud memiliki kecakapan yang dibutuhkan di era pemerintahan lima tahun kedepan pasca Joko Widodo tidak lagi menjabat.
Mahfud seorang Profesor hukum. Ia penah menduduki posisi penting di pemerintahan, baik sebagai Menteri sampai Menko, Ketua Mahkamah Konstitusi dan juga Anggota DPR. Semua ranah trias politika sudah pernah diduduki Mahfud. Ia pernah menjadi anggota DPR, Menteri dan juga Hakim. Cukup ? Belum, Mahfud juga seorang guru dan tokoh agama. Ia anak pesantren dan tokoh Nahdatul Ulama, Ia seorang guru dan lebih dari itu. Ia Guru Besar.
Tahun 2018 silam, Mahfud hampir saja menjadi Cawapres. Namun sebuah “aksi cepat” melibas namanya dari saku Presiden Joko Widodo. Pengakuan Mahfud di media, Ia bahkan sudah mengukur baju dan diminta bersiap untuk datang ke lokasi deklarasi. Namun takdirnya harus ditunda lima tahun. Kini Mahfud menjadi Cawapres. Ia tinggal selangkah lagi duduk di kursi yang hampir pernah didudukinya tahun 2019 silam.
Sebenarnya, tahun 2018 lalu itu, nama Mahfud bukan tidak pernah dipertimbangkan oleh koalisi Prabowo. Presiden RI ke VI dan Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat 2015-2020, Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) pernah mengusulkan nama Mahfud ke Ketua Umum Partai Gerindra Prabowo Subianto untuk berpasangan. Namun Prabowo justru memilih kadernya sendiri Sandiaga Uno daripada memilih nama Mahfud dan bahkan Agus Yudhoyono anaknya SBY sendiri.
Menariknya, meski Mahfud tidak menjadi Cawapres Jokowi dan Prabowo, Ia justru mendapat kehormatan menjadi Menteri Koordinator bidang Politik Hukum dan Keamanan di Kabinet Indonesia Maju. Mahfud setingkat lebih tinggi diatas Prabowo yang menjadi Menteri Pertahanan di kabinet yang sama. Menjadi Menterinya Jokowi, Mahfud tetaplah Mahfud. Ia tidak berubah setitikpun. Kerap kali ia dibully karena berpendapat berbeda. Namun itulah Si Guru Besar Ilmu Hukum Tata Negara ini. Mahfud juga aktif di sosial media. Akun sosmednya @mohmahfudmd aktif memposting kegiatan dan pendapatnya. Konon kata orang dekatnya, Mahfud mengandalikan sendiri akun “X” itu.
Kini Mahfud sudah resmi berpasangan dengan Ganjar Pranowo. Banyak relasan dan masyarakat memadukan nama keduanya menjadi GaMa yang merupakan singkatan dari Ganjar – Mahfud, namun tak sedikit yang menyebutnya dengan kata GoFud. Pelesetan dari GoFood aplikasi layanan pesan makanan online. Apapun itu, Ganjar dan Mahfud sudah dipersatukan. Mereka sudah berjalan berdua menuju masa depan Indonesia. Selamat Pak Mahfud.
