Arusberita.id – Joko Widodo Presiden, Selasa (19/9/2023) sore, melepas secara simbolis Kontingen Indonesia yang akan berlaga di ajang Asian Games ke-19, di Hangzhou, Republik Rakyat Tiongkok.
Acara pelepasan yang dihadiri perwakilan atlet, pelatih dan ofisial berlangsung di halaman Istana Merdeka, Jakarta.
Pada kesempatan itu, Kepala Negara memberikan semangat serta menargetkan Kontingen Indonesia finis di peringkat 10 besar.
Jokowi optimistis atlet-atlet Indonesia mampu meraih banyak medali, dan mencapai target 10 besar dari total 45 negara peserta.
“Asian Games sebelumnya kita bisa masuk peringkat empat. Tahun ini menurut kalkulasi Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga kita akan masuk peringkat 12. Target saya masuk 10 besar. Saya sadar jadi tuan rumah dan bukan tuan rumah berbeda. Tapi, saya targetkan masuk 10 besar. Biasanya hitungan saya tidak meleset,” ujarnya.
Sementara itu, Dito Ariotedjo Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga (Menpora) menjelaskan, pada Asian Games kali ini, Indonesia mengirim 576 orang, tterdiri dari 413 atlet, 132 ofisial, dan 28 Tim Chef de Mission.
Menpora berharap dukungan serta doa seluruh masyarakat supaya Kontingen Indonesia menunjukkan performa terbaik untuk meraih hasil maksimal.
Dito menambahkan, Asian Games ke-19 juga jadi event persiapan atlet-atlet nasional menuju Olimpiade Paris 2024.
Sekadar informasi, ajang multievent terakbar di kawasan Asia yang memainkan 40 cabang olahraga dan 61 nomor akan berlangsung dari tanggal 23 September sampai 8 Oktober 2023.
Sebetulnya, Asian Games di Hangzhou dijadwalkan tanggal 10-25 September 2022. Tapi, karena tahun lalu kasus Covid-19 di China melonjak, pelaksanaannya terpaksa diundur. selama setahun.
