Arusberita.id – Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) berharap agar keberadaan Badan Kesejahteraan Masjid (BKM) dapat mendorong masjid menjadi pusat pembinaan umat dan kemajuan bangsa.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Jokowi saat membuka Rapat Kerja Nasional (Rakernas) BKM, di Istana Negara, Rabu (8/11/2023), sebagaimana dilansir laman setkab.go.id.
“Melalui peran BKM kita harapkan rumah-rumah ibadah ini dapat dikelola secara profesional, moderat, dan berdaya, maslahat bagi umat,” katanya.
“Sehingga masjid dapat menjadi pusat pembinaan umat, menjadi pusat kemajuan bangsa, dan masjid yang ramah bagi semuanya,” lanjut Presiden.
Jokowi meyakini, dengan anggota yang mencapai lebih dari 17.600 masjid dan tersebar di seluruh pelosok tanah air, potensi manfaat BKM sangat besar bagi umat Islam dan bangsa Indonesia.
Presiden juga berharap agar rumah-rumah ibadah dapat menjadi tempat yang khidmat untuk beribadah.
Mempersatukan keberagaman, sekaligus tempat yang edukatif untuk pembelajaran karakter.
“Saya juga berharap pengurus BKM, baik yang di pusat maupun yang di daerah, ini dapat aktif bersinergi, aktif berkolaborasi untuk menjaga masjid dari ancaman intoleransi dan ekstremisme serta dari politisasi yang memecah belah,”
“Yang tidak mempersatukan kita, tidak menjadikan kita rukun, sehingga persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa dapat terus dijaga,” ujarnya.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Jokowi mengapresiasi upaya revitalisasi BKM yang dilakukan oleh Kementerian Agama. Menurut Presiden BKM telah ada sejak tahun 1964.
“Dua minggu yang lalu Pak Menteri bisik-bisik ke saya, ‘Pak, ini ada BKM harus kita aktifkan kembali seperti yang lalu-lalu tahun-tahun 60-an’.Saya sampaikan, ‘Siap Pak Menteri’.”
