Arusberita.id – Menteri Transmigrasi Iftitah Sulaiman menegaskan bahwa proyek food estate di Merauke, Papua Selatan, akan melibatkan masyarakat setempat.
Ia menjelaskan, proyek ini akan membutuhkan banyak tenaga kerja sehingga Kementerian Transmigrasi akan mendukungnya melalui program transmigrasi lokal.
“Kami sampaikan, tentu isu besarnya kan ada food estate di Merauke di Papua Selatan dan itu butuh tenaga kerja,” ujar Iftitah di Kompleks Parlemen, Senayan, Jakarta, Selasa (5/11/2024).
“Kami sampaikan bahwa dari sisi kami, Kementerian Transmigrasi itu nanti akan men-support food estate itu dengan memanfaatkan transmigrasi lokal,” sambung dia.
Namun demikian, Iftitah tidak dapat memastikan apakah kebijakan pelibatan masyarakat Papua dalam proyek food estate ini akan diterapkan oleh semua kementerian.
Ia hanya dapat memastikan bahwa kebijakan tersebut berlaku untuk Kementerian Transmigrasi.
“Kalau dari Kementerian Transmigrasi pasti. Karena, definisi transmigrasi lokal itu kan tidak mendatangkan penduduk dari luar ke wilayah Papua,” sebutnya.
“(Itu) kalau dari sisi kami, kalau dari sisi kementerian lain, itu silakan ditanyakan ke kementerian lain,” tuturnya.
“Food Estate” Merauke Sebelumnya, Presiden Prabowo Subianto telah mengunjungi proyek food estate di Merauke pada Minggu (3/11/2024).
Proyek ini ditujukan untuk mencapai ketahanan pangan nasional dan diharapkan dapat menjadi model pertanian terpadu yang mampu meningkatkan produktivitas pangan nasional serta kesejahteraan petani di kawasan tersebut.
