Arusberita.id – Mentan RI Andi Amran Sulaiman akhirnya buka suara, terkait langkah pemerintah Indonesia dalam memperluas area tanam pangan. Perluasan arena tanam itu, demi menjaga stabilitas ketahanan pangan di Tanah Air.
Mentan mengatakan, terdapat tiga langkah yang dilakukan pemerintah dalam meningkatkan produksi pangan Indonesia. Langkah pertama, memberikan kompanisasi sawah di Jawa dan luar Jawa.
“Target pulau Jawa dan luar Jawa adalah 500.000 hektar, 500.000 hektar di pulau Jawa kita melakukan kompanisasi. Dengan kementrian PUPR, BNPB, PMK dan bupati, gubernur kita gandengan tangan,” kata Mentan saat berbincang dengan PRO3 RRI, Rabu (28/2/2024).
Para stakeholder terkait, Mentan menegaskan, dapat membantu mengairi sawah-sawah tadah hujan. Karena, di pulau Jawa banyak sungai-sungai besar seperti Bengawan Solo.
“Kita pompa airnya, singkatnya jangan biarkan air hujan yang jatuh dibumi Indonesia mengalir sia-sia. Jadi el nino yang begitu dahsyat dibalik itu semua, karena kita kreatif kita mengoptimalkan sumber daya yang ada,” ucap Mentan.
Langkah kedua, Mentan menuturkan, pemerintah berakselerasi meningkatkan masa tanam. Masa tanam dari satu kali, ditingkatkan menjadi dua kali.
“Itu kita berikan benih unggul, kemudian ketiga adalah optimalisasi lahan rawas sekarang sudah disediakan sudah memulai. Itu di Sumatra Selatan, Kalimantan Selatan, Kalimantan Tengah, Sulawesi Selatan, Lampung dan seterusnya,” ujar Mentan.
