“Kita akan terus dorong Papua Selatan sebagai sentra pangan nasional di timur Indonesia,” kata Ma’ruf di Merauke, Papua Selatan, Selasa, 4 Juni 2024.
Ma’ruf mengatakan Provinsi Papua Selatan berada di perbatasan antara Indonesia dengan Papua Nugini. Target itu diyakini menggenjot ekonomi masyarakat dan wilayah.
“Serta mendekatkan pelayanan publik hingga masyarakat di pelosok perbatasan,” papar dia.
Wapres menyebut pemerintah telah meluncurkan rencana induk percepatan pembangunan Papua (RIPPP) 2022-2041. Rencana itu memiliki tiga misi, yakni Papua sehat, Papua Cerdas, dan Papua produktif.
“RIPPP ini akan menjadi pedoman pemangku kepentingan dalam mendesain program prioritas pembangunan Papua,” ujar dia.
Selain itu, Ma’ruf ingin potensi pariwisata Papua Selatan dimaksimalkan. Misalnya dengan membuat wisata sejarah di Boven Digoel hingga festival Asmat.
