Arusberita.id – Presiden RI Joko Widodo dan Perdana Menteri (PM) Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao dalam pertemuan bilateral di Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Senin, membahas mengenai pembentukan kawasan ekonomi dan juga penyelesaian batas darat kedua negara.
“Bapak Presiden menyampaikan diharapkan akhir tahun ini batas darat dapat diselesaikan, dan kedua pemimpin juga menyepakati bahwa kerja sama ekonomi terutama di daerah perbatasan penting untuk ditingkatkan,” kata Menteri Luar Negeri (Menlu) Retno Marsudi yang mendampingi Presiden Jokowi dalam pertemuan bilateral dengan PM Timor Leste, sebagaimana keterangan Sekretariat Presiden diterima di Jakarta, Senin malam.
Retno mengatakan bahwa PM Xanana juga mengapresiasi dukungan Indonesia kepada Timor Leste yang ingin menjadi anggota penuh ASEAN.
“Pada saat pembicaraan, Bapak Presiden menekankan dukungan ke depan untuk capacity building dalam rangka mempercepat keanggotaan penuh Timor-Leste di ASEAN,” lanjut Menlu.
PM Xanana, ujar Retno, juga mengapresiasi Indonesia yang telah menjadi sumber perdamaian dunia.
“PM Xanana Gusmao mengatakan bahwa Indonesia merupakan center gravity of a peace dan juga merupakan effective voice dari perdamaian,” tuturnya.
Sebagaimana diwartakan Antara sebelumnya, Presiden Jokowi dalam pertemuan dengan PM Timor Leste di Istana Merdeka, Senin, menegaskan Indonesia selalu mendukung proses keanggotaan Timor Leste di Perhimpunan Bangsa-Bangsa Asia Tenggara (ASEAN).
“Indonesia selalu mendukung dan aplikasi keanggotaan Timor Leste dan implementasi roadmap (peta jalan) keanggotaan, termasuk melalui peningkatan kapasitas pejabat Timor Leste,” kata Presiden Jokowi saat mengawali pertemuan bilateral dengan Perdana Menteri Timor Leste.
Jokowi mengatakan Indonesia dan Timor Leste adalah saudara sehingga kemitraan kedua negara harus dipererat. Presiden RI juga mengucapkan selamat atas pelantikan Xanana Gusmao sebagai PM Timor Leste pada 1 Juli 2023.
“Selamat datang di Jakarta serta selamat atas pelantikan yang mulia. Indonesia dan Timor Leste adalah saudara sehingga kemitraan kita harus semakin dipererat,” kata Jokowi.
Pertemuan bilateral antara Jokowi dan Xanana dilakukan menjelang penyelenggaraan KTT ASEAN pada 5-7 September 2023.
Timor Leste telah diterima secara prinsip sebagai anggota ke-11 ASEAN dalam konferensi tingkat tinggi (KTT) di Phnom Penh, Kamboja pada tahun lalu. Sejak itu, Timor Leste dikabarkan telah meratifikasi lebih dari 50 instrumen, perjanjian, dan kesepakatan serta melakukan lebih banyak pelatihan peningkatan kapasitas dan memperluas jaringan infrastruktur agar dapat mengakomodasi kebutuhan dan kewajiban menjadi anggota ASEAN.
Turut mendampingi Presiden dalam pertemuan tersebut yaitu Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik, Hukum, dan Keamanan Mahfud MD, Menteri Luar Negeri Retno Marsudi, Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo, dan Sekretaris Kabinet Pramono Anung.
